What is a Posada?
Our Posada Navideña is more than a holiday celebration—it is a gathering rooted in hope, welcome, and community. We are committed to keeping this beloved tradition free and accessible to CLG worker-members, their families, and the broader community, so that everyone can come together without cost being a barrier.
The Posada brings together day laborers, domestic workers, their families, and community members for food, music, piñatas, cultural traditions, and, most importantly, the opportunity to celebrate and be together. In these troubling times, creating a space where immigrant families feel welcomed, valued, and celebrated is more important than ever. It is an opportunity to honor the cultures and traditions that our worker-members bring to Sonoma County and to strengthen the bonds that connect us all.
The story of La Posada resonates deeply with migrants who make their own journeys to this country in search of refuge, carrying dreams and aspirations for a better life. By gathering in this tradition, we affirm that everyone deserves hospitality, dignity, belonging, and the opportunity to celebrate with their community.
The Posada is also the Graton Day Labor Center’s only major fundraiser of the year. Our goal is to raise $35,000 through sponsorships and direct donations to make this celebration possible while sustaining the programs and services that support day laborers, domestic workers, and their families throughout Sonoma County.
Your sponsorship helps ensure that our worker-members and their families can participate in a meaningful community celebration at no cost. It helps cover the food, music, activities, cultural programming, and other expenses that allow us to keep the Posada free and welcoming to all.
At the same time, your investment goes far beyond one evening. Your support strengthens the year-round work of the Graton Day Labor Center and helps worker-members and immigrant workers access the opportunities, training, education, and resources they need to build safer, healthier, and more secure futures.
Throughout the year, your support helps connect workers with:
Safe and dignified work opportunities, including pathways to better and more permanent employment
Workplace health and safety training, including OSHA and CPR certification opportunities
Skills-building and professional development, including green cleaning workshops and other opportunities to uptrain and expand employment options
Health and wellness resources, including dental and health check-ups and connections to community care
Food security resources, including access to the food bank
Health and environmental safety education, including workshops on pesticides, plant identification, and recognizing hazards such as poison oak
Financial awareness and literacy, helping workers and families strengthen their financial knowledge and stability
English classes and adult education support, including assistance navigating registration and accessing educational opportunities
These programs reflect a simple belief: when workers have access to knowledge, resources, safe work, and opportunities to grow, families and communities become stronger.
