What is a Posada?
Las Posadas is a cultural tradition in which people of the Catholic faith celebrate the journey of Mary and Joseph to Bethlehem, seeking refuge along the way. The story tells how they were turned away again and again until they were finally offered shelter in a barn, where Mary gave birth to Jesus.
That journey continues today.
The story resonates deeply with migrants who make their own journey to this country in search of refuge, carrying dreams and aspirations for a better life. In these troubling times, it matters that we show hospitality to our immigrant neighbors and celebrate the culture they bring with them.
