Almas

ALMAS, or the Women’s Action and Solidarity Alliance, is Centro Laboral de Graton’s domestic worker organizing project. Their guiding principle is fostering power “with love.”

ALMAS collaborates with CLG and reaches out to domestic workers throughout Sonoma County. Their focus is on leadership development and advocacy, particularly in areas concerning women’s, immigrants’, and workers’ rights.

They hold a notable position in both the California Domestic Worker Coalition and the National Domestic Workers Alliance. ALMAS played a pivotal role in the successful passage of AB241, the CA Domestic Worker Bill of Rights. With this landmark legislation, California became the first state to grant overtime protections to all domestic workers.

Regular ALMAS meetings are held across Sonoma, where collective challenges and solutions are discussed. They are an integral part of a global movement recognizing the importance of domestic workers.

For those interested in supporting, contributions can be made directly to Centro Laboral de Graton with a special mention of “ALMAS“.
